PHOENIX -- Today I want to go over some ways to remove mold and mildew from showers.
One of the most natural ways to do it is by spraying the mold and/or mildew with undiluted white vinegar or lemon juice. Heating the vinegar will make it even more effective.
Spray, walk away, come back in about 30 minutes, re-spray and scrub with a firm brush such as a scrub brush or nail brush for small areas.
You can spray caulking that has mold or mildew with undiluted cheap vodka. Spray it, wait 30 minutes and then scrub.
For bad mold and mildew in grout and caulking, combine baking soda and chlorine bleach into a paste that will stay on the wall and not run. Apply, using adequate ventilation and removing towels etc that might be bleached by the fumes. Wait for 24 hours and then re-moisten with the bleach and scrub. Remember to wear old clothes.
Last, but not least, to keep soap scum, mineral deposits and mold off of glass block or glass showers spray them with Rain-X. Find it in an automotive store or where automotive supplies are sold.
You can also apply this to CLEAR glass shower doors to keep mineral deposits and soap scum off and make it easier to clean.
WARNING: DO NOT USE on frosted glass, etched glass, plexiglass, fiberglass, acrylic, and plastic.
Rain-X is a spray-and-wipe product for windshields. It's formulated for use as a rain repellent. It is not a natural product so please wear gloves and have adequate ventilation.
