Corn

It is that time of year corn on the cob time. There is nothing like fresh corn hidden in the husk waiting to be revealed. First you remove the husk then the silk then it is ready to cook. Then time to go back to Gardners corn store in Snowflake to get more.

When you are traveling aroung the Snowflake Taylor AZ and get hungry think of Trappers,
9 S Main St, Snowflake - (928) 536-7758. They are known for their homemade pies all over the area. I can recommend for breakfast the pancakes or the Biscuts and Gravy. Do not judge by the outsides. The sign on the inside says it all. Take a close look at the"old fashioned wood stove" notice the electric cord.

Matts Big Breakfast

One of my favorite shows is Diners Drive ins and Dives on the food channel.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/diners-drive-ins-and-dives/index.html

The last weekend I had to take a trip to the Phoenix Library to pick up some books on tape.

I thought this would be a great time to visit Matt's Big Breakfast 801 North 1st Street Phoenix, AZ 85004 (602) 254-1074 http://www.mattsbigbreakfast.com . This diner had been featured on one of the episodes of DDD. It is a unique two room diner with four tables and a window one person counter in one room and four tables and a six person counter in the other, the tables are 24" x 24". The photos below show the sign in station, the diner the diner and the Coronado hotel. The restroom for the diner is located in the hotel go in and ask for Mike he will direct you to room 102. The wait to get into the diner after you sign the list outside averages one hour, not a place to be summer day in Phoenix. I ordered the three pancakes ($7.50) which were nothing to write home about. I usually find if the pancakes are good the rest of the menu will follow. Had to go back to Phoenix on Tuesday, tried the Big Butter Burger ($7.95) nothing special just a burger with chips . I guess maybe I am missing something as there seem to be a LOT of people waiting to get in.
